Senior Accountant (Maternity Leave Coverage)

The Accountant/Analyst, under the leadership of the Managing Director, Finance performs day-to-day accounts receivable, collections, front-line revenue audits, and analytical reporting for Whistler Sport Legacies.   This temporary full time role is to cover a maternity leave for approximately one year and includes the flexibility to work weekends, statutory holidays, and evenings.

Responsibilities: 
  • Accounts Receivable invoicing and collections
  • Support all WSL venue cash sales and reconciliations, ensure effectiveness of cash controls
  • Oversee the daily verification and posting of POS cash-outs to accounting system
  • Assist with month end procedures including balance sheet and 3rd party concessionaire reconciliations
  • Provide financial analysis support for all WSL venues utilizing POS system reporting tools including preparation of the Daily Sales and Labour Report
  • Overseas all POS and e-commerce product set-up including accounting, tax, and security management
  • Update and maintain documentation for audit, cash and other relevant internal controls
  • Complete sales report analysis for annual audit
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partner organizations, sharing ideas and resources to improve operational efficiencies
  • Take personal accountability and responsibility for actions; take initiative to find creative solutions to problems or issues
  • Support alignment and achievement of WSL’s vision, mission and goals
  • Positive representative of Whistler Sport Legacies, both internally and externally
  • Flexible to assist the team and WSL departments with other activities, duties or initiatives as assigned or required
  • Act proactively in communicating the services provided and projects being undertaken by the Finance department

  • Assist team with other duties as assigned or required
Education/Experience: 
  • Diploma, certificate, or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in business or accounting is required
  • Current enrollment in an accounting designation program an asset
  • 2-3 years practical accounting experience required
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, accurate and detail-oriented
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel (ability to use Pivot tables and generate Macros required), Word, and Outlook
  • Proven ability to maintain high-level of confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast paced, team environment as part of a team and unsupervised
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Logical and objective with a good understanding of the business environment
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively meet deadlines
  • Willingness to assist other team members (perhaps outside the department) as needed and requested
