Skeleton Sport Programs

The Whistler Sliding Centre is working closely with the BC Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association to provide skeleton programming to local and provincial athletes, from introductory first touch programs to regular training as a development/competitive or recreational club athlete.

A clear pathway (see table below) leads skeleton athletes through their progression levels.

 

SKELETON ATHLETE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE SLIDING DEVELOPMENT CENTRE:

INTRODUCTORY
(target ages 14+)

First-touch, one-session programs such as Discover Skeleton. Athletes are familiarized with the sport of bobsleigh with actual on-ice sliding. 

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT
(target ages 14-26)

Winter season program (November to March), with sliding between three to five times/week, depending on skill and commitment level. Opportunities to participate in competitions .

CLUB SLIDING /
Recreational Skeleton
(target ages 14+)

Winter season program (November to March). Sliding sessions available three to five times/week. Season pass, 10-time pass or drop in available. Equipment rental available. 

NATIONAL Team

Athletes must have world-class abilities to be selected to these teams (selection is directed by Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton).

Discover Skeleton (for ages 14 and up)

The Whistler Sliding Centre in partnership with the B.C. Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association are offering the opportunity to try out the Olympic winter sport of Skeleton by sliding down the track on your own sled!

Skeleton Athlete Development (target ages 14-26)

Youth and young adults (ages 14-26) that want to take up the sport of skeleton on a competitive level can enroll in the Skeleton Athlete Development program, which runs from November to March.

Club Sliding / Recreational Skeleton (target ages 14+)

Youth and adults ages 14 and up who want to regularly be involved in skeleton in a mainly non-competitive, recreational way can sign up for the Club Sliding Program with sliding opportunities three to five times per week.
